What is the value of timber?

  • What species are the trees (some are worth more than others)
  • Quality and size of the trees
  • Terrain, slope and water crossings (certain properties require more maintenance before the actual harvest)
  • The market (it will fluctuate due to supply and demand)

Why should you sell to a Forestry Company vs. a Lumber Mill?

  • Our company is small with little overhead, allowing us to put competitive numbers on your timber.
  • We have personal markets that change frequently allowing our company to gain the best possible yield from your timber stand.
  • As a management timber company we have the landowners future in mind.  We will not enter your property and mark all high value timber, leaving your property broke with little timber value.  Our concept is very simple, manage, manage, manage!  Yes, you can obtain a higher number from another company but please understand our goal is to create numerous harvest within your property, creating an investment vs. depleting your volume and cashing in. We too can give a higher monitory yield but management is our specialty.  Management vs. Depletion can be misunderstood, comparing apples to apples when considering these two different methods of harvesting just isn’t possible.  I do understand some landowners don’t have a choice and need to cash in, in that case we can accommodate your needs.  Our skilled foresters will evaluate your trees on a personal level to ensure future growth and regeneration.  We are in the business of building lasting relationships!

How you’re Paid?

  • Once you’ve decided our company is the best fit for your timbering and management needs you will be paid immediately. No timber will be harvested until payment is disbursed.  You can be paid in full or we can break up the payments for tax purposes.

What are trees of interest?

  • Ash
  • Black Walnut Tree
  • Cherry
  • Red Maple
  • Red Oak
  • Sugar Maple
  • White Oak

What should I know as a land owner?

  • When harvesting your timber, we encourage you to keep a healthy balance within your trees. Keep in mind, every property is very different. For instance, sometimes having too many trees on your property can decrease the growth rate of more valuable trees that need the chance to thrive. In that case, we would make our recommendations as to what trees we think should be harvested. We like to stay above a certain diameter tree (16″ and above), but sometimes the need to take a less valuable tree (14″ or smaller) is needed to ensure proper growth of more dominant trees.
  • There are many ways to promote your woodlot growth and we would be happy to do an evaluation and give your our professional opinion of how we can accomplish just that! A healthy woodlot is a great investment!

When and why is excavation important?

  • After a harvest is complete, the next step is ensuring a working property, roads, water diversions, and proper grading. This service is a no extra cost to the landowner, we always guarantee the property to be working as it was before the harvest. Sometimes while on the property with our equipment, there are things that the owner has always wanted to do. Maybe a food plot for the wildlife, a clearing for a cabin, or widening the roads for a better access.

If you are simply interested in our excavation services, we also perform these services unrelated to our forestry business. In our services link, you will find a complete list of the services we provide. If it’s not on the list, just ask!
